Apps and Tools We Use on a Wedding Day

Hello lovely visitor! Mary here, half of M/K Studios LLC. Today, I'm thrilled to share some of the essential apps and tools that I rely on for wedding days and planning that make my life so much easier. These tools help me manage my day-to-day tasks and ensure your big day goes off without a hitch.

Outside of wedding photography, I work full-time in marketing, have several marketing projects on the side, and am actively involved in my community, spanning from Traverse City to Houghton. So when I say I use these apps and tools, I really mean, I rely on these like it’s my last ration of food on a deserted island.

Whether you're a bride or groom looking to organize your wedding day or a fellow photographer aiming to optimize your workflow, these tools are game-changers.

Notion

For All Things Organization

Notion is my go-to app for staying organized. I use it to manage client information, shot lists, timelines, and even inspiration boards. Its versatility allows me to keep everything in one place, accessible at any time. Whether you're planning your wedding or managing your photography business, Notion helps keep the chaos at bay.

Calendly

For Seamless Scheduling

Coordinating with clients can be tricky, but Calendly makes scheduling meetings and consultations a breeze. It syncs with my calendar, allowing clients to book time with me based on my availability, eliminating the back-and-forth emails.

Sun Seeker App

For Perfect Lighting

Knowing where and when the sun will be is crucial for capturing those perfect shots. The Sun Seeker App provides detailed information about the sun’s path, helping me plan shoots to ensure the best natural lighting. I truly do not know who they make this app for except us photographers and videographers. Shows where the sun will be and when in live time. Great for scouting locations for shoots or even planning where you want your ceremony to be.

Super 16

For Capturing Film-Like Footage

Super 16 is my secret weapon for recording film-like footage. This app mimics the look of classic 16mm film, adding a nostalgic and artistic touch to video clips. It's perfect for capturing the timeless feel of wedding moments in the palm of my hand. I have great ambitions of becoming a full hybrid shooter, but for now, Super 16 does the trick. We have even had couples have friends download the app to document their day from their perspective. The ultimate free app for shooting the dreamiest at-home videos.

Premium Subscription to The Weather Channel App

For Up-to-Date Weather Information

Weather can be unpredictable, and having the most current updates is essential. My premium subscription to The Weather Channel app ensures I’m always prepared, with real-time weather information and forecasts to help plan and adapt on the wedding day.

Instagram & Pinterest

For Inspiration and Social Sharing

Instagram and Pinterest are not just for social sharing; they are treasure troves of inspiration. I use Instagram to connect with clients and showcase our work, while Pinterest is perfect for gathering ideas and creating mood boards.

Google Sheets

For Day-Of Organization and Timeline Planning

Google Sheets is indispensable for organizing the wedding day schedule. I create detailed timelines, share them with my team and clients, and ensure everyone is on the same page. It's a lifesaver for keeping the day running smoothly. My experience at MTU and my economic minor were heavily reliant on Google Sheets for organization. The same principle applies to wedding day organization – it’s an indispensable tool for ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Windfinder

For Wave and Wind Reports

For lakeside shoots, knowing the wind and wave conditions is crucial. Windfinder provides accurate reports, helping me choose the best times and locations for those stunning waterfront shots.
